Privacy Policy
We collect what you type into our waitlist form (name, email, optional phone, interest, notes) and basic analytics about how the site is used. We use it to tell you about opening dates and early access. We do not sell or share your personal information. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
The Builders ("we", "us", "our") operates sand-crew.com (the "Site") and a planned indoor RC construction yard in Lake Forest, Orange County, California. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, why, and what rights you have. It applies to the Site only.
2. Information you give us
When you submit the "Founding Crew" waitlist form, we collect:
- Name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Phone number (optional)
- Area of interest (e.g. after-work play, private event, corporate, leagues, family session, membership)
- Free-text notes you choose to add (group size, dates, questions)
We also receive whatever you choose to send us by email or through social media messages.
Please do not send us sensitive information. We do not request and do not want government identifiers, payment card or bank details, health information, precise geolocation, biometric data, or information about children. We collect no payment information at waitlist stage.
3. Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect standard technical and usage data, which may include: IP address (and approximate city/region derived from it), browser and device type, operating system, screen size, referring page, pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, time on page, and session identifiers stored in cookies or local storage.
We use:
- Google Analytics 4 — third-party analytics provided by Google. Google's handling of this data is governed by its own policies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
- Our own first-party analytics (CDP) — a self-hosted event log we use to understand traffic and form completion on our own infrastructure.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage through their settings. Blocking them may affect how parts of the Site work. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no common standard for them; we do honour recognised opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where legally required.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- contact you about opening dates, preview sessions, early access and founding rates;
- respond to your questions and messages;
- understand demand, measure interest and improve the Site and the planned offering;
- maintain security, prevent spam, fraud and abuse (including the hidden anti-bot field on our form);
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. We do not sell or share your personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA). We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
6. Who we disclose information to
We disclose personal information only to:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf under contract — hosting, website infrastructure, analytics, email delivery and similar operational vendors;
- Legal recipients — where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of any person;
- A successor — in connection with any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of our assets, in which case this policy will govern the transferred information until replaced.
7. Social media platforms
We maintain accounts on third-party platforms (including Instagram and TikTok) and use their official publishing tools and APIs to post our own content to our own accounts. If you interact with us on those platforms — by following, commenting, messaging or otherwise — that interaction happens on their infrastructure and is governed by their privacy policies and terms, not ours. We do not control those platforms and are not responsible for their data practices.
8. Retention
We keep waitlist information for as long as needed for the purposes described above — in practice, until the venue opens and for a reasonable period afterwards, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever is sooner. Analytics data is retained on a rolling basis in line with our providers' default retention settings. We may retain limited records where required for legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution purposes.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to a small pre-launch business to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot and do not guarantee the security of any information. You transmit information to us at your own risk. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Waitlist submissions are for adults 18 and over. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at hello@sand-crew.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to which it was disclosed;
- Access a copy of that information in a portable format;
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of sale or sharing — note that we do neither;
- Limit use of sensitive personal information — note that we do not collect it;
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address), commercial information (stated interest and preferences) and internet or network activity (site usage and analytics). We collect these from you directly and from your device when you use the Site, for the business purposes described in Section 4. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA.
To exercise a right, email hello@sand-crew.com with the subject "Privacy Request" and tell us what you want. We will verify your request by matching the email address you write from against our records; if we cannot verify you, we may not be able to act. An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written proof of authorisation. We aim to respond within 45 days as required by law.
12. Other jurisdictions
The Site is operated from the United States and is intended for users in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law. By using the Site you acknowledge that your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection rules may differ from those in your country.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy at any time by posting a revised version with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Continued use of the Site after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
